BREAKING NEWS! MALACAÑANG PLANONG IBENTA ANG MARCOS JEWELRY TO SUPPORT EFFORTS AGAINST COVID


Malacañang said on Thursday, that the government is considering to auction off the Marcos jewelry to augment aid for families affected by the lockdown due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Presidential Spokesperson Haary Roque siad during an online press briefing,  “Even before the Covid-19 pandemic that’s already an option being pursued by the government.”

Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the the public auction of former First Lady Imelda Marcos’ jewelry collection worth more than P700 million.

PRRD wanted the proceeds of the auction will go to the Filipino people who are in need of government aid, especially now that we are having pandemic crisis.

The “Hawaii Collection,” which is under the safekeeping at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, includes a rare 25-carat pink diamond estimated to be worth $5 million and a Cartier diamond tiara.

The jewelry pieces were seized in Honolulu, Hawaii, where the Marcos family fled in February 1986 after a "people power" revolt that ousted the former president from power.

The Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) estimated that the Marcoses illegally amassed at least P530-billion during the 20-year rule of Ferdinand Marcos.
